Self Motivational Tips

Encouraging Self Motivational Behaviour

Self Motivational? Then Whats Holding You Back?

The first factor in stopping you from being self motivational is fear. Fear comes in many forms take the fear of failure for example. We don't want to take a risk because if we fail we believe we are a failure. This is only true if you tell yourself it is true. If you try something and it doesn't work then all it means is you didn't get the outcome you desired. So use the old self motivational saying "pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again". Never ever tell yourself that you are a failure if you do it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. Fear of failure stops us stepping outside our comfort zone. If we don't step outside our comfort zone we are unlikely to fail but also we are unlikely to succeed. Being self motivational means realising that when we step outside our comfort zone, do something different and it works our comfort zone just got bigger. Remember if you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have already got. Decide today to do something that scares you and see how exhilarating it is. Even if it doesn't work you will get a buzz from it. Do it at least once a month and see the difference it makes to your comfort zone, your self motivational outlook and your life. Another fear which stops you being self motivational is the fear of success. This is an interesting one and is another great excuse for doing nothing. What if I am successful what will my friends think, will they think I am getting above myself, being big headed, maybe they won't talk to me anymore. This is only an excuse to not take action and a typical form of procrastination. Supposing it is true, if so it raises another factor which stops you being self motivational. That is hanging out with the wrong crowd.
If you don't associate with people who are willing to support you in achieving your goals you need to widen your circle of friends or even change completely those that you associate with. Again if you have a fear of meeting new people here is another great way to step outside that comfort zone, improve your social skills and especially meet other people who are self motivational. If you want to be successful you need to associate with successful people or those aspiring to be successful. I can't remember who said it but apparently you are likely to be earning the average income of the five people you most associate with. So if you want to improve your average you need to associate with people who are striving to better themselves. But success is not just about money. If you want to improve your health you need to associate with people who eat healthily and tend to have a good exercise routine.
Another great characteristic of self motivational people is perseverance, if you easily give up then you are unlikely to be successful. Now here you need to be careful because if something doesn't work first time by all means you shouldn't give up you need to keep trying. However you also need to be sensitive to the fact that if after a while if something isn't working maybe you need to try something else to achieve the right outcome. Remember what I said its not a failure you just didn't get the outcome you were looking for. So learn from those outcomes and adjust your actions to get a better outcome next time.
The other showstopper to you being self motivational and therefore being successful is your thoughts. You need to watch your thoughts, Ralph Waldo Emerson said "We become what we think about all day long". So if you think you are a failure you will be but if you think you can be successful you are on the road to achieving it (albeit you need to take action to move along that road).
